There are no strict requirements to be "Au Pair" in England.

Age: 18 - 27 years if you come from de European Union.
Single.
Essential experience taking care of children (it is worth to look after younger brothers).
Minimum knowledge of local language is advisable in order to be understood by the child without any problem.
Minimum stay of 2 months in summer periods.
Minimum stay of 6 months up to a maximum of 2 years.
Driving license is appreciated.
Enjoy good health.
Have no criminal record.
As refers to cigarette smoking, habits of the house must be respected (it is easier to find a family)
Work 5 hours/day, 30h/week, including hours baby-sitting.
Free Days: 1-2 days per week.
Pocket  money around 60-95€ /week (40-60£)
Baby-sitting:-2 nights.
Tasks: Take Care of the children and doing household related to them, for example: takes them to school, to the park, feed them, clean their rooms, plays with them and helps them with the language. Perform light work in the house and deals with his room. Also they may be asked to take care of the children 2 nights a week.
The "Au Pair" pays its round trip and will be picked up by the host family at the airport (If there were any changes should notify so that there would be no problems).
